The Goldfields Aboriginal Business Chamber is hosting a special lunch event during National Reconciliation Week to promote business and reconciliation in the Goldfields region featuring guest speakers from the AFL.
The event, which will take place on Friday 2 June, at the WASM Graduates Hall in Kalgoorlie, will bring together members of the Aboriginal community, industry leaders, government and those with a genuine commitment to reconciliation to hear to former AFL greats discussing the importance of reconciliation within today’s business environment.
“We’re excited to have AFL icons and legends join us for this year’s National Reconciliation Week lunch event,” said Elaine Jolliffe, executive of the GABC. “Their presence will help to highlight the importance of reconciliation and the role sport can play in bringing communities together.”
The lunch event will feature keynote speeches from Aboriginal AFL greats including two time premiership winner, Gavin Wanganeen, as well as presentations from the Chambers members highlighting the work they do to promote business and empowerment in the Aboriginal community.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with other business owners, industry leaders, government officials and AFL players to explore potential partnerships and collaborations.
“We believe that this event will be a unique opportunity to bring together different parts of the community to promote reconciliation and economic development,” said Ms Jolliffe. “By working together and supporting Aboriginal businesses, we can build a stronger, more united community.”
