Felicity (Fifi) Harris is a locally born Wangkatja/Tjupan woman who provides cultural advisory and training services. Fifi is a passionate advocate for the sharing and transfer of local Indigenous knowledge, delivering interactive learning experiences both on country and in the school classroom.
Fifi delivers cultural awareness training on country to industry and government in the Northern Goldfields region. She delivers her training through guided tours, sharing stories about her personal context and weaving in her knowledge of the local Wangkatja history, bush foods, family traditions, relationships, and kinship system. Participants are provided a safe environment where they are encouraged to ask questions.
Fifi has worked as an Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer, local language teacher and two-way educator at Leonora District High School. She ran the Department for Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions Bushranger Program at the school, engaging students with the local environment and local knowledge. Fifi delivers workshops to the Western Australian Department of Education staff on two-way science, connecting the cultural knowledge of the local community with Western knowledge systems and the school curriculum. Fifi was awarded the CSIRO STEM Champion Award in 2017 for her contribution to the effective and innovative implementation of the STEM program in schools.
