GABC Celebrates NAIDOC Week with an Interactive Art Workshop

Jul 26, 2021 | GABC News

The GABC hosted a special event to help celebrate NAIDOC Week with an interactive art workshop held at the WMC Graduates Hall in Kalgoorlie on July 22.

The workshop was facilitated by award winning artist, radio and film producer (and overall arts superstar) Debbie Carmody. Participants tuned in to Debbie’s expert guidance and dived in to develop their own personal art works.

Whenever we share our culture with the community we are sharing personal stories and information that impact our lives and community. Participating in the event not only allowed the guests to engage their artistic side but it also encouraged them to share their personal stories. Sharing stories with one another helps build relationships, and relationships are the foundation to good business.

We also enjoyed presentations from local cultural awareness training providers Shari Champion; Tjupan Tours; Bush Ghoodhu Tours, Linden Brownley; and Old Boys Tours, Marcus McGuire. Delicious food was provided by FromEdna Catering.

It was an awesome evening showcasing some of our local aboriginal businesses. Special thanks to the Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development (DPIRD) and to the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission for supporting this event.
